Narutaki Iromono Lv 5+
Very Beautiful and unique and rare hone.
Great hone. A fantastic finisher. Few stones from other mines do I like as much as Narutaki, and Nakayama for razors. Though there are other mines in japan that have produced outstanding Awasedo, it's amter of frequency.
Perfect finishes, Perfectly close and smooth shaves WTG and ATG.
This one has an undercut corner (with kawa, so done by nature) and a bias grain at the top corner of that same corner. Though I have not lapped this one, and this may change with lapping. This is why the price is so low. As it sits I have dressed the corners and edges and left a slight gentle dish in this stone as the barber who used this toishi for years intentioned, to offer something different for people with smiling edges. (I will lap it flat before shipping upon request)
I personally do not put razors with good spines and smiling edges in a dished toishi (at least untapped), as it will wear the spine unevenly. My wade butcher pictured has its spine properly tuned to its bevel, and it sits there in the picture, untapped to illustrate the subtle curvature of this barber's toishi and show how it cradles a smiling edge.
Comes adhered to wooden Toishi Dai.
